Earn Your Medical Assisting Degree

Front office, back office, exam rooms, and everywhere in between—there’s no better way to become immersed in the medical field than with a Medical Assisting degree.

Northwestern College offers a two-year Associate Degree in Medical Assisting that prepares graduates to become an important part of the health care team, working alongside doctors and nurses to provide cutting-edge medical care. Whether you’ve always wanted to work as part of the medical office staff or as an assistant dealing directly with patients, the Medical Assisting program at Northwestern College provides the comprehensive training you need to tackle both sides of the desk.

A Day in the Life of a Medical Assistant

One of the most exciting things about becoming a medical assistant is that no two days on the job are exactly the same. When you work with the public—and with a public whose health needs are varied—every day is an exploration of your capabilities.

Depending on where you work, you may:

And because the Medical Assisting degree program includes areas like medical law and ethics, emergency preparedness, sociology, and pharmacology, these represent just a fraction of the duties you’ll be trained to handle.

Medical Assisting Training that Matters

At Northwestern College, we know that your education is only as valuable as your marketability in the real working world. That’s why your two years with us will be spent training under the guidelines of the Commission on Accreditation of Allied Health Education Program (CAAHEP).

Since all Medical Assisting students are expected to meet the administrative and clinical competencies as outlined by the CAAHEP, our graduates are eligible to sit for the national Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) exam. This certification—and the Northwestern College degree—help give you an edge when it comes time to find the medical office, hospital, or surgical center that will launch your career.
