Dean of Violet Schumacher School of Nursing
Janet Davis, dean of the Violet L. Schumacher School of Nursing, is passionate about preparing students to successfully achieve RN licensure. Davis is an accomplished author and co-author having published research abstracts, articles, a book, and chapters in two additional books. She has been a frequent lecturer at local, state, and national nursing and health care organizations as well as at local hospitals and faculty workshops. Her scholarly writing and lectures have covered a vast array of topics such as career development and nursing education innovations.
Davis earned a bachelor’s degree in nursing at Georgetown University, a master’s degree in maternal child nursing from Boston University, a master’s degree in business administration with concentrations in entrepreneurship and strategic management from the University of Illinois at Chicago and her doctorate in educational psychology from Loyola University Chicago. She is a 37 year resident of Chicago’s Northwest Side where she resides with her husband Dan. They have two adult daughters.
