School of Legal Studies
At Northwestern College, our School of Legal Studies provides career-focused training to equip students with the skills they need to succeed in real world setting. Whenever you’re talking about a paralegal or criminal justice career, there’s much more at play than technical training and skills development. Law is a deeply philosophical field of study, and succeeding in it takes a well-rounded curriculum that challenges students to think harder, probe deeper, and ask the difficult questions.
That’s where the criminal justice and paralegal programs at Northwestern College make all the difference. We strive to provide an environment where students not only learn about the different aspects of law, but are also able to understand how it applies in real life. In this way, we prepare our graduates for the kind of success that keeps building over a lifetime.
Legal Studies at Northwestern College
Students of our School of Legal Studies have two primary career paths to choose from. For more specialized niche training, we suggest students participate in the paralegal degree program. For those who want more flexibility in their future career path, the criminal justice degree program is a good fit.
- Paralegal Associate in Applied Science Degree or Paralegal Certificate: Paralegal training is one of the fastest ways to get your academic credentials and begin working in a law office. Because we offer this program at both the certificate and associate degree level, you have the flexibility to build your career however you wish.
- Criminal Justice Associate in Applied Science Degree: Our criminal justice program trains students to work in law enforcement at the support staff level, with additional opportunities to continue on to train as a law enforcement officer. As an administrative professional in this field, you can utilize your talents to make our world a safer place.
No matter which career path you choose, students are always encouraged to participate in stimulating discussions of legal problems with experienced instructors in order to gain the practical knowledge required in today’s job market. This makes you a valuable resource on both sides of the desk.
All of our legal studies programs are designed to provide a direct path to your new career, and our curriculum is kept up-to-date to match the changing requirements of the industry. In order to accomplish this, we keep up high standards for both our students and ourselves. To all this, we add our student-centered facilities, supportive staff, and the kind of financial aid and career development training that has a positive impact on your future.
